The Homeleader is an all-seasons heater / fan at an affordable price ...
By D. Fowler
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1KID8MWWA5FMJ I have an old-fashioned Pelonis ceramic heater that I paid considerably more for than the Homeleader costs. There are several features that the Homeleader has that the Pelonis doesn't. The high heat output on both of these units is similar, 5120 BTUs to 5200 BTUs. When you touch the housing of that Pelonis, you're going to know it because it will burn your fingers. The Homeleader has what is called a "Stay Cool Body," a housing that I have yet to burn my fingers on.

Mind you, if I put my fingers directly in front of the fan when it's on high, the could get a little toasty, but I'm not planning on it. It has a very convenient carrying handle so I can move the fan from one location to another. The Pelonis has none, save a metal piece on the top reverse side that gets very hot.

FEATURES:

☼ Adjustable thermostat helps to set a heat automatically
☼ Three Settings:

► High - 1500 watts (5120 BTUs)
► Low - 750 watts
► Fan Only

☼ Front Mounted Control Panel
☼ On/Off Indicator Light
☼ Safety Overheat Protection
☼ Safety Tip-Over Switch
☼ Stay Cool Body
☼ Convenient Carry Handle
☼ 120V A.C. / 60Hz. 12.5A

The Homeleader is the type of heater I prefer to use nearby or beneath my desk when I'm working. It does very well on heating up the immediate area. The Tip-Over Switch is very sensitive. Any change will immediately shut the unit down. The Pelonis will shut off, but only when it hits a certain angle. Not acceptable.

I do like the compact size of both heaters, but the Pelonis does not operate quietly. It can be heard operating from quite a distance while the Homeleader is very quiet, although in the video I'm so close you can hear the heat pushing its way out of the elements. The Laskos are also another heater that has a loud fan. I do like the almost instantaneous heat the Homeleader generates.

All of the controls and indicators are where I like to see them ... on the front. When I want to adjust my Pelonis, I have to risk burning myself if it is in operation as the controls are on the reverse side. The changes in temperature are achieved quickly. The only one that doesn't is when I go from high heat to the fan only setting, but that's understandable because it's pushing out the remaining heat.

I feel this is a very reasonably priced fan with all the features of the Pelonis, plus some. It remains to be seen if the Homeleader will hold up to time. If not, I'll be back to update this review. I've been using it steadily, have no complaints, and am very pleased with the performance.

Heater and fan...
By John B. Goode
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R3LEL6R15HAE1G Overview: 750/1500W 5120 BTU heater/fan. This is a small compact fan measuring no more than 8" x 10".

What I like about it:
1) Small size
2) Has thermostat that will automatically switch it off/on when the desired temperature has been reached
3) Has fan only setting
4) Tip over safety switch

You can see on the attached video the fan being switched from Fan only to Low to High and then being tipped over and back upright again. You can see the light going off when it's tipped over and then automatically switches back on again when upright. The video doesn't seem to be picking up the fan noise but you can hear the switch being turned and the noise of the fan when it hits the floor. There is some fan noise, but not more than I would expect. The tape measure is set at 12 inches to show the size.

There is only 1 fan speed but the heater powers up quite quickly, in about 30 seconds I can feel the heat already. I think the most important features of this fan is 1) the automatic thermostat so you can set it at a certain temperature and not having to worry about getting up and down to adjust the heat, 2) the tip over switch that will automatically shut it off if it gets knocked over and 3) compact size.

I think it's perfect for heating up a small room or small space and is unobtrusive and doesn't take up a lot of room.

Summary: Compact, functional heater and fan.
