Pros and cons of this electronic portable fireplace
By Nuknuk
This is conveniently portable, you can carry it from one room to another, even if you have been using it for sometime. The heat is coming from the bottom and doesn't heats up the handles that are on the top. It uses two 40W E12 lamps that can be replaced from the back.

Pros:
- wonderful magical fireplace display. It looks like an authentic fire unless you are very close to it.
- no assembly required

Cons:
- Not extremely loud but still makes noise even no heater is on.
- No authentic fire log crackling noise. Fireplace DVDs give you better experience on audio.
- It is blowing air on the bottom but not enough to spread the head across the room

Energy consumption:
I used a Kill-a-Watt to measure how much energy it consumes. This electronic fireplace has three rocker switches. The first one is for light display only. The other two switches is to turn on the heater. There are two rotating knobs. The one on the left is for the light display intensity. The one on the right is a dumb knob for the heater temperature. It is actually just a two step switch. It doesn't adjust gradually. Nothing happens until you turn the knob past halfway before the light on the second heater switch turns on. After passing halfway, the heat will not intensify more even if you turn the knob all the way to the highest setting.

Light only, dimmest setting = 53W
Light only, brightest setting = 78W
Light + 1 heater switch = 731W
Light + 2 heater switches = 1,311W

Decorative and Functional
By B. Niedt
Most of the space heaters I’ve bought in the past have been of the little cube variety, so this is easily the largest one I have owned. Still, it’s pleasantly designed, about the size of a small TV, with a black glass face that’s rather unobtrusive with the fire effects turned off. When they’re turned on, it won’t convince anyone that it’s real, but it’s still a decent approximation of a fireplace blaze. The heater can be operated without the fireplace effects and vice versa. There is a variable heat setting along with two toggle switches for 700 and 1400-watt output. It’s an efficient unit that warms up a small to medium-sized room quickly. It’s relatively light and portable, and the surface doesn’t get too hot to handle. I think there’s a permanent place for this in my small but chilly family room.

Decorative and Effective
By Alec Rojas
I live in a warm weather climate, so I rarely use central heat. Most of the time I entrust the evenings and mornings to space heaters. This is more than suitable for the chilly mornings and evenings. Instead of a boring hot fan or lamp or disk, this is quite aesthetically pleasing. Yeah, the wood isn't super authentic and the flames are just digital representations on the screen behind the glowing pieces of wood. But it does provide a nice ambiance. The fan is a bit loud on the bottom, and most of the heat is shoved out through the bottom vent. This is fine in terms of making sure the room heats up in a uniform manner.

While not a direct replacement for 24/7 heating needs, the Dallas Electric Fireplace is more than effective to not only spruce up your room but make it cozy as well.
