Heats 800 Sq Ft turned up only half way to 60 degrees!
By Eric Robinson
This heater is dynamite! it heats my 800 sq ft shop, no problem. If i turn it up 3/4 of the way, it will be 75 degrees! Does a great job, runs fairly quite. I even use my shop for an office, and can talk on the phone with out a problem while it runs. electric bill is up only 100 and that is keeping my shop at 55 degrees when i not out there and at least 70 to 75 when i am, and that is alot. Worth the money! I did tape up drafty spots in the shop and put insulation in the attic. FYI

Beefy Little Unit
By John K.
I plan to insulate/drywall my unfinished garage next spring. Currently it's about 40% insulated, and a thick vapor barrier is attached to the ceiling joists. The space measures 20' X 19', with a 10' ceiling.

Amazon shipped the unit in no time flat. Was immediately impressed by the no-nonsense construction of this thing. Heavy gauge steel throughout, 3 large sealed heating elements with hundreds of fins brazed to the elements. Large 5-bladed fan with a huge drive motor. Not to mention the weight - at 36 pounds, this is no milkhouse heater.

Installation was pretty simple. I had already installed the wall bracket and roughed in the electric service. Took about 40 minutes from unpacking to fully operational.

Energized the service breakers and fired it up. This unit pushes an awful lot of air, yet the blower is surprisingly quiet. No, it's not whisper-silent, but fan noise is quite tolerable. Another thing that struck me is the complete lack of any vibration or jitter - the motor shaft and fan blade are balanced nicely. Quality.

Starting temp inside was 50 degrees, it was 37 degrees outside. One hour of continuous operation, and the inside temp was a tad over 60. Two hours of running, and the garage was now at a toasty 70 degrees. Backed off the thermo, and checked the temp a couple hours later. It was holding steady at 58, and cycling on about 3 times per hour. Once up to temp, the unit does not kick in for very long.

Time will tell what impact it has on my electric bill, but I'm not kidding myself - 5000 Watts is a hefty amount of power. Have to keep it set low until the garage is fully insulated.

For most folks, I would suggest that you mount it using the optional wall bracket. The ceiling bracket supplied with the unit only has 6 inches of clearance between the ceiling and the top of the elements. In my opinion, that's not enough of a safety margin. Check out my review of this bracket, it's available on Amazon:

Dimplex #EUHWB Wall Hanger Bracket for EUH Series

UPDATE 1/28/12:
Into the coldest part of winter now, and the heater is working fine. I've been able to maintain garage temp between 42-55 degrees without a major hit on the electric bill.

Manufacturing or handling carelessness
By R. Wyss
I removed the packaging very carefully. WhenI removed the louver containment frame to rotate it as per the instructions I found the lower right corner of the lourver frame was bent out. Also there was a damaged mark at the front top, center of the main body of the heater.
I was VERY CAREFUL in my handling of this unit! I did not cause the damage! I willattempt to straighten the louver frame and try to touch up the paint on the cabinet.
