Seems like it should be better at preventing leaks
By Calvin
I bought this adapter hose for my Cuisinart grill, which sits on my Cuisinart stand, which holds a standard propane tank. It seems like these items should go very well together. One might say, that they are made for one another.
And it's true, I was able to attach the hose to the grill fairly easily, tuck it neatly away with a special clip provided by the stand, and attached the tank without an issue. It all fit together.
However, the instructions are very careful, as it should be with propane grills, to direct the user to check for gas leaks using a solution of diluted dishsoap. Seems like a standard CYA move. But much to my dismay, my set up had leaks near the grill connection; and I and had to detach, re-attach, tighten, wiggle ... until the leaks disappeared. Now since this potential issue was pointed out in the manual along with instructions on how to address it you may be thinking that it seems rather unfair to ding Cuisinart for the problem.
I disagree.
To me it seems like components designed to work in unison should do so flawlessly, that's the expectation you have when you don't opt for the generic brand. Secondly, stopping leaks seems like a core functional requirement for a hose. I mean you could use a string to 'connect' the grill and the propane tank. Delivering the propane to the tank is the whole point of a hose. So if you have a leak, whatever gas is leaking out is not being delivered to the tank.... hence, fail.
It's true that all hoses can have leaks and it's a somewhat universal problem, but I base my low rating on the fact that I am using a matching grill, the set up had leaks on the very first connection, and it's price. I had higher expectations.

Cuisinart 4-Foot Hose Portable Grill
By jujubee
Although the first hose I purchased had to be returned, the second one went on perfectly and I'm quite pleased with the entire unit. Cuisinart stood behind the product and was informative about correct action on the first hose.
