Updated -- Best of the bunch but high priced
By Novaflyer
After my Cuisinart DCC-1200 nearly caught on fire after brewing a pot of coffee, I searched Amazon for a coffee maker with the highest ratings. Bonavita appeared to be THE coffee maker to get. I thought that it was pricey, but I sprung the 169.95 to purchase the BV1800TH.

Pros
This maker brews hot coffee with temps between 195-205 degrees as published by the National Coffee Association.
Clear reservoir--easy to fill and see the 8cup mark

Cons
Zero features--I knew this going in that it would be a minimalist coffee maker
Thermos--it gets warm on the outside, which means that it only keeps the coffee warm for a couple of hours
Coffee doesn't taste any better than with my fire hazard Cuisinart

Conclusion -- I recommend that you find a lower priced coffee maker.

UPDATE
I requested an RMA the other day to return the coffee maker because of the thermos, but when I researched other coffee makers, I couldn't find a better product that would attain the proper brew temperature at a lower price. Therefore, I cancelled the RMA with Amazon and kept the coffee maker. I'll use my other thermos if I'm going to keep coffee longer than 2 hours. I've also updated my rating from 2 to 4 stars. The coffee produced by this machine is excellent, despite the price!

SECOND UPDATE 11/20/2013
I suggest getting the coffee maker with the glass carafe and using your own thermos. Aside from being useless to keep the coffee warm, unless you pour at a snail's pace, the thermal carafe leaks coffee when you pour it. The glass carafe model is cheaper.

Outstanding coffee maker
By Brad Baker
Exactly what I was looking for. Simple but elegant design and makes perfect, hot coffee very quickly. Especially like the thermal carafe version. Highly recommend.

A drip coffee maker for the coffee lover.
By Brady A. Brown
Fantastic little coffee maker, have owned many different coffee makers over the years, and this one truly produces the finest tasting coffee I have ever had. Beats french press, my previous favorite, and is a significant improvement, by a wide margin over all the other drip coffee makers (have owned Bunn, Krups, Cuisinart HT, and many others I can't remember the names of. No bells and whistles, keep it simple, that suites me, and no drawbacks. If you love coffee like I do, you will not be disappointed .
